Audix D2
Hypercardioid Dynamic Microphone

Full description
The D2 is a compact dynamic instrument microphone. Part of Audix’ D-series, it has a scooped-mids EQ curve, with a larger low-frequency boost than the D4.
Audix presents the mic as suitable for drums, percussion, and brass instruments.
Like the other D-series Audix dynamics, the D2 has a good reputation online, especially for tom applications. Gearslutz members compare it favorably to the Sennheiser MD421.
The D2 case is identical in size and shape to the D1 and D4. All are milled from a solid block of aluminum and finished in black. The D2 can be distinguished from the other models by the logo stamped on the mic, and by the color of the fine-mesh blast screen inside the black grille; on the D2, the inner screen is black.
?The headgrille can be easily removed. Visually, the dynamic capsules of the D1, D2 and D4 are all but identical, and measure approximately 22mm in diameter (inside the capsule housing). The only visible difference is the size of the vent holes around the base of the shaft.
